Summer is in full swing and I (Leanne) am now full time, which means the blog is officially restarted! The purpose of the blog is: (1) to provide students and parents with a place that has the details for upcoming events (2) to add an extra dose of challenge and encouragement to your spiritual walk during the week (3) to share thoughts and new discoveries. Feel free to comment and interact - this is your space. So, to kick off this shared space, we're starting with a guest post by Grace Cramer. Check it out!
What camp means to me
By: Grace Cramer
Camp is something my summer leads up to. As the days get hotter, and lazier, I grow increasingly eager for the awesome food, great counselors, and the AMAZING band! I almost like the feeling of desperate longing and impatience that leads up to the 3.5 hour drive to Rock Springs, Texas, because when we get there it makes being there so much better.
But man, a week never flew by so fast. Getting there and looking upon the gaga ball pit, the pavilion, and the river, I feel the nostalgia that I see mirrored on the returning members' faces. Then I see the people that are there for the first time, and their expression is one of excitement masked by curiosity and maybe a little fear. But overall, everyone was ready to explore.
And that's exactly what we did - played games, hiked, heard sermons, dominated at gaga ball, and had copious amounts of fun. We even made friends with an Australian guy! Our youth mascot was a wallaby too! Camp means a lot spiritually to us too. Each of us made steps personally whether it was through the speaker, the staff, lessons, or just seeing each others' development. All in all, camp eagle is nearly invaluable to our youth group, including me.
