Who is Roots?Roots is Crestview Baptist Church's youth group for grades 6th-12th. We meet on Sundays and Wednesdays every week for games, food, and bible study (see more details under the Calendar tab). Everyone is welcome.
Our name comes from Colossians 2:6-7 "Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving." Our goal is to help each other become more deeply rooted in Christ so that we can walk in Christ everyday. This website and our Facebook page (www.facebook/crestviewroots) are the best ways to stay up-to-date with everything that goes on in roots. There are events details, announcements, weekly challenges, and blog posts.

Who is Leanne?I am Crestview's Student Minister. I have been at Crestview since September 2013 and I love getting to work with you!
I am a PK (Preacher's kid) and I grew up in a family that loved God. When I was 7, I told my Dad that I wanted to be a Christian. So, we sat down in my room and he explained to me that God loves me, but my sin separates me from him (Romans 3:23). The consequence for my sin is death and not being with God (Romans 6:23). But, the good news is that Jesus came to earth and lived a perfect life so he could take my punishment for me (John 3:16). So, I get to be with God as soon as I choose to believe in Jesus and put him in charge of my life (Romans 10:9). I prayed and asked God to forgive me for sinning and I told him that I believed in him and Jesus and that I wanted to follow Jesus. So, I became a Christian (aka: Christ-follower). It wasn't always easy. My family moved multiple times and I changed schools almost every year. Making new friends became harder as I entered middle school and I was bullied a lot in 7th and 8th grade. I wondered if God was real and why he wasn't making life better. But now, I can look back and see that God was teaching me to depend on Him as my best friend. During high school, I dedicated my life to missions and ministry, not knowing what that would really mean but knowing that I would trust God and follow Him wherever He led me. I have had had the opportunities to teach children's music camp, intern as a summer missionary leading Vacation Bible School throughout Bell County, serve as a camp counselor, and now be Crestview's student minister. It's been an adventure. I never expected to become a youth minister while I was still in college (I'll graduate from UT with a BBA in management in May 2015), but God has shown over and over that He is faithful and that His plan for life is amazing. I love coloring and singing and planning events but more than any of those, I love getting to listen to you! So, feel free to send me an email with your thoughts or questions any time. And remember, you are loved, honored, and chosen by the One who knows you completely. |
